IQOS Devices
IQOS devices span several generations, and the differences go beyond size, color or design. The most important distinction is the heating system and the type of tobacco stick each device is designed to use. The newer IQOS ILUMA family uses blade-free SMARTCORE induction technology and is designed for TEREA sticks. Earlier models including IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS 3 Multi and IQOS 2.4 Plus use an internal heating blade and are compatible with HEETS. IQOS ILUMA – The Newer Blade-Free Generation
IQOS ILUMA introduced a fundamentally different heating system. Instead of placing a heating blade inside the tobacco stick, the device uses induction technology with the heating element contained within the compatible TEREA stick.
Three main formats are available in the ILUMA family:
IQOS ILUMA
The standard IQOS ILUMA uses a separate Holder and Pocket Charger. It keeps the familiar two-piece IQOS format while moving to the newer blade-free system.

Which IQOS Devices Use TEREA?
TEREA sticks are designed specifically for the IQOS ILUMA generation.
That means IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA ONE and ILUMA PRIME use TEREA, while earlier blade-based models do not.

IQOS 3 DUO – The Two-Piece HEETS Generation
IQOS 3 DUO belongs to the earlier blade-based generation.
It uses a separate Holder and Pocket Charger, with the Holder supporting two consecutive uses before it needs to return to the charger.
The range includes different finishes such as IQOS 3 DUO Warm White, Velvet Grey and Brilliant Gold.

IQOS 3 Multi – All-in-One HEETS-Compatible Design
IQOS 3 Multi takes a different approach.
Instead of a separate Holder and Pocket Charger, the battery and heating system are integrated into one device. A full charge supports up to 10 consecutive uses.

IQOS 2.4 Plus – An Earlier IQOS Generation
IQOS 2.4 Plus also uses the traditional Holder-and-Pocket-Charger format.
Unlike 3 DUO, its Holder provides one use before it needs to be recharged in the Pocket Charger.
